During the summer of 2014, students studying Arabic in Amman, Jordan participated in community service events organized by American Councils. They volunteered by helping organize donations for Syrian refugees living in the Zaataari refugee camp in Jordan.
NSLI-Y students sorted, organized, and bagged hundreds of pounds of clothes, shoes, toys, and household goods to be delivered to the residents of the camp via a delivery organized by Merci Corps. Students greatly enjoyed this opportunity to give back to their newly adopted community, a key component of the NSLI-Y program.
