On the first weekend of 2019, 18 NSLI-Y alumni flew into the nation's capital for the 2019 NSLI-Y Alumni Representative Workshop. The training prepared us for a new leadership role and fostered deep friendships!

Every hour of our stay was packed with informative, skill-building sessions meant to enable us to fulfill our roles. From a presentation about Department of State resources, to a leadership training session, event brainstorming activities, trivia competition, and a public speaking hour, we all left DC with a new understanding of what it means to be a NSLI-Y Alumni Representative. In addition to formal sessions, we were able to spend some quality time with one another walking across DC, ice skating (or attempting to do so), playing competitive card games, and sharing our international music playlists!

Overall, the weekend was extremely well spent. As this year's cohort of Alumni Reps, we are incredibly lucky to have been chosen for this position, and are very excited to serve NSLI-Y alumni at the regional and virtual level, whether that means webinars about scholarship programs or bubble tea socials. We can't wait to meet you!
