National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) Interactive hosted a virtual event on April 26, 2022 that connected NSLI-Y Academic Year scholarship students in Moldova with U.S. high schoolers learning Russian.
In this virtual event, the U.S.-based high school students learning Russian prepared various questions for the NSLI-Y Russian Academic Year students about the culture of Moldova, their experiences living abroad, and the NSLI-Y program! With questions and answers in Russian and English, some specific topics covered were sports, food, challenges abroad, and language barriers with host families. Using this event as a chance to practice their Russian language skills and connect across the world, the U.S. high school students (a few of which were NSLI-Y scholarship recipients themselves!) were able to learn more about Moldova and the NSLI-Y program, while the NSLI-Y students were able to share their experiences abroad.
