On March 31 at 6:00 PM ET, NSLI-Y Korean Academic Year alumni came together to share Korean language learning strategies and resources for on-program and beyond. NSLI-Y alumni who have just completed their Academic Year program in South Korea presented about different language learning strategies: community engagement, blogs and vlogs, research projects, extracurricular activities, personal tips and strategies, plans for continued study, host families etc.

Aaryanna

Aaryanna has an interest in studying about different languages and cultures. After gaining a major interest in Korean culture, customs, and unique writing systems, she began her journey to study Korean. While on program, she studied Buddhism in Korea for her winter project and how it is used in modern day Korea. As she continues to learn about foreign cultures in college, she is planning to pursue studies in International Business.

Kylie

Kylie is a high school junior from Virginia. In Seoul, South Korea, she was able to build positive relationships through involvement at churches in her host communities. Upon return, as a member of the Student Council Association, her goal is to improve the sentiment around foreign language learning within high schools and spark discussion about study abroad. She plans to continue studying Korean into college as well as cultivate her interest in a career in international business.
