Raha is from Maryland and participated in the NSLI-Y 2023 Arabic Summer Program in Jordan. Besides art, her favorite parts of Amman were her host family and the shawarma.

When drivers would ask me what I loved about Amman, I always said the people, the food, and the art. They were so vibrant and lively that, even though the buildings were tan and uniform, they brought them to life with art and colors. Pockets of beauty can be found anywhere in the city, from modern street artists to galleries built on ancient grounds to cafes. Amman is made of art and, in comparison to suburban Maryland, it is absolutely stunning. I chased after the art during my program and every minute bore treasures.
