NSLI-Y students traveled to the Nizwa with the YES Abroad Oman students to get a look at what is considered one of the main cultural and most important heritage sites in Oman. They learned how the fort was built, its purpose, and why it is so important in Omani culture and history

After visiting the fort, they went to the highest peak on Jebel Shams. In the cool breeze on the mountain they experienced the different kinds of atmospheres in Oman. One student commented, “This is the coolest I’m ever going to feel in Oman

November 18th is National Day in Oman, a national holiday. In 2013, NSLI-Y students went to see traditional Omani dance and song at a large National Day celebration at Bank Muscat.
